About
Hey guys, I’m Jason Larkins, the Cheer Director at American Cheer in Bakersfield, the host of The Let’s Talk Cheer Podcast, and the author of the book, Upside Down and Back Again: A Parent’s Guide to Allstar Cheerleading. If you have spent any time in the cheer world, you already know the sport is exciting, complicated, emotional, and sometimes confusing. My job is to help make it all make sense
I want to help athletes, parents, and coaches understand cheer more clearly so they can enjoy it more fully. Whether it is on the podcast, inside one of my digital courses, in a video review, or through my book, my mission is to break things down in a way that is honest, practical, and easy to apply. I believe great cheer programs are built on strong communication, realistic expectations, consistent training, and remembering that we do this because it’s fun.
I am also a husband and a dad, which means a lot of my best ideas come while chasing my daughters around the house. Cheer is what I do, but my family is who I do it for.
If you are a parent looking for clarity, a coach looking for an edge, or an athlete who wants to grow, you are in the right place. Welcome.

Video Review
Get the routine your team is capable of.
Coaches work hard, and after watching the routine for the 1000th time, it's easy to stop seeing what judges still see. A fresh expert perspective helps you get those points back.
Teams I have done video reviews for have gone on to win Worlds, NCA Allstar, NCA College, Summit, and D2 Summit. The difference always starts with clarity.
Quick Fact:
On average, less than 2 points separate the top 5 teams at most major events. Small fixes change outcomes.
